Reflect What the Speaker Says

Paraphrasing or restating what the speaker has said lets the speaker know that you are interested. It also gives that person the opportunity to clarify his or her message. During an interview you want to make sure you understand the question and/or statement in order to respond with a professional and adequate manner.

Below are examples of ways you can start your sentence to clarify the employers question and/or statement:

“What I hear you saying is….”

Or ask the employer to re-phrase the question/statement.
