Comprehensive training is available to help Medical Coding and Billing professionals who are required to be proficient”) in ICD-10 by December of 2015, by using hands-on and interactive learning scenarios. The classes are taught by Medical Coding and Billing Program Director, Roberta Pell who brings real-world experience, training, and skills to help professionals making the transition. The classes, like all programs offered at Western Tech involve a mix of formal training and interactive scenarios designed to help navigate difficult coding situations with guidance. The classes are offered in 60-hour and 100-hour training programs based on the needs and level of knowledge of the professional.
The training offers a pathway for individuals or groups of professionals needing to identify the newly specialized coding system and learn more about the 68,000 new codes that have been implemented as of October 1st. In class, you can expect to receive overviews of the ICD-9 system as well as instruction that bridges the gap from ICD-9 to ICD-10. The ICD-10 training will prepare you to take the proficiency exam and provides several scenarios to work on in class that will be very similar to the scenarios appearing on the test.
The program offers lots of flexibility for employers looking to give training to their employees. “We work with companies and are very flexible with training budgets and scheduling,” says Gracie Olivas, Customized Training Coordinator at Western Tech. The training is available Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am-10:00 pm and Fridays 8:00 am-5:00 pm with flexible scheduling on Saturdays. Online training is available anytime and students who need additional help or have questions will always have the ability to contact the professional Instructor who is ready and willing to jump in when needed.
