Career Colleges & Schools of Texas (CCST) Honors Halliburton as Western Tech Employer of the Year
December 4, 2014- El Paso, Texas - Western Technical College announced that the Career Colleges & Schools of Texas (CCST) recently selected its employer, Halliburton - one of the world's largest providers of products and services to the energy industry as the 2014 Employer of the Year Award recipient. The Employer of the Year Award is presented to an employer who has hired at least one graduate from the nominating school; has contributed to the school’s program advisory committee, and who contributes to curriculum or institutional improvements that affect the lives of students.
Roger Brown, Electronic Maintenance supervisor for the company, accepted the award on behalf of Halliburton. Brown is a native El Pasoan, who has been with Halliburton for 13 years and has an 11-year working relationship with Western Technical College. He serves on the Electronic Engineering Technology (EET) program advisory committee and continuously strives to improve the curriculum for the EET students, such as the addition of the COMPTIA A+ certification to the program, which he recommended would help increase the graduates’ marketability in a competitive field. Brown has personally hired over 26 graduates from the Electronics Engineering Technology program.
CCST is the state association for private, post-secondary Career Schools that prepare people for today's jobs and careers. There are approximately 200 career colleges and schools in the State of Texas offering a wide range of occupational programs. These colleges and schools enable more students to reach their career goals, provide employers with a large pool of skilled workers, and ultimately expand the state's tax base by attracting and expanding business’ in Texas.
