Certificate Program

Program length: 10 months daytime; 14 months evenings
This course is approximately 50 percent classroom training and 50 percent hands-on training.

If you like medical office work AND you like helping people, this program just might be the perfect fit.

Our Health Information Technology program is unique in that it combines training in three critical areas: medical records coding, health claims examining and medical billing. With a certificate from this program, you'll be prepared to work for a private healthcare practice, clinic, hospital, government agency, nursing facility, insurance company or consulting firm.

  • Our instructors are certified through American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC), and the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist through NHA.

  • Upon successful completion of the HIT program, students may challenge the Certified Coding Specialist and Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based exams through AHIMA; the Certified Professional Coder exam through AAPC, and the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist through NHA.
  • Opportunities exist for credentialed coders to work from the comfort of their own home.

As a part of your program you will have the opportunity to do an externship in the health industry to gain real-world experience while you earn college credit.
