The next step is to see if you qualify for admission to Western Technical College. That’s where the Office of Admissions will help you. We have resources that can help you choose the best program; understand application policies and procedures, deadlines and financial aid.

Eligibility for All Programs

To be eligible for any technical training program, you must meet these eligibility requirements:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED)
  • Be 17 years of age or older

Some programs may require specialized assessment prior to acceptance.

Medical Assisting Program

  • Minimum score of 130 on the Career Program Assessment Test (CPAT)
  • Clean bill of health on the basic TB and VDRL
  • Basic typing proficiency of at least 25 words per minute

Health Information Technology

  • Minimum score of 130 on the Career Program Assessment Test (CPAT)
  • Basic typing proficiency of at least 25 words per minute 

Because different versions of the examination are administered, you may retake an entrance exam on the same day. It is preferred that all students have valid driver’s licenses before entering school; however, if you are enrolling for classes in Automotive, Diesel, Performance Tuner, or HVAC and Refrigeration, it is mandatory that you have a valid driver’s license before starting classes, due to employment requirements.
