You know you're an automotive techie or gear head when you want to understand how automotive systems work and you like both the power and great fuel economy of Diesel Engines. Add the ability to modify and accessorize a light duty diesel powered vehicle, and the satisfaction of troubleshooting and finding and fixing the problem and that means you're going to want the Light Duty Diesel training offered at Western Technical College.
You'll drive deeper into hands-on automotive and diesel training. You can exercise your urges to get down and dirty under the hoods of various types light duty diesel vehicles from several manufacturers including but not limited to Dodge, GM, Ford & Cummins. As a part of our Automotive Technology Program with a Sub-Specialty in Light Duty Diesel, you will also have the opportunity to do an internship in the automotive industry with local industry employers to gain invaluable real-world, hands-on, experience while you're attending school. Additionally, the Matco toolset you will use in your training will be yours to keep when you graduate preparing you to hit the industry ready to work with the hands-on experience from training and your internship and the tools to get you started in the industry.

Program Name: Automotive Technology with a Subspecialty in Light Duty Diesel
Length: 78 weeks daytime or 97.5 weeks evenings. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES
This course is approximately 50 percent classroom training and 50 percent hands-on training.
In our Automotive Technology with a Sub-Specialty in Light Duty Diesel Program, you will receive training in nine areas of the ASE standards: A1-Engine Repair; A2-Automatic Transmissions/Transaxles; A3-Manual Drive Train and Axles; A4- Suspension and Steering; A5-Brake Systems; A6-Electrical/Electronic Systems; A7-Heating and Air Conditioning; A8-Engine Performance; and A9-Light Duty Diesel Engine.
