Another example of the Colleges’ support is of the local born and raised boxer, Antonio Escalante, junior featherweight who won the recent 10 round fight against Cornelius Locke, held at Don Haskins during ESPN’s Friday Night Fights. Escalante took time prior to the event to come and speak to the students and sign autographs at the Eastside Main Campus. “Whenever you fall down, you have to get up!” he said. As a boxer if you don’t get back up, you’ll lose and that goes for life situations with your education and your career! Just keep fighting for it!” said Escalante who was supported by his wife Maria during the presentation to the students. Escalante commented about how neat it was to have an educational institution supporting him and hopes to continue the relationship in the future.
