A Season of Joy, a Season of Giving

In December, many generous donations and efforts of so many individuals to include staff and students at WTC allowed some less fortunate individuals and families receive food, toys, blankets, and the message that someone cares during the Holiday Season. Maria Aranda of the Student Services Department took the lead in organizing, collecting, and delivering the donations to the Opportunity Center, the Rescue Mission, and the Candle Lighters. As the spirit of giving overtook WTC, the following items were donated in December:

44 new and used blankets

20 personal hygiene items

81 can goods and other food items like cereal, coffee sugar, etc.

6 cases of Soup

30 clothing items

10 boxes of toys

$500.00

In addition, a class of 26, 4th graders at Campestre Elementary was adopted to provide them with Christmas wishes. The genuine joy was palpable as the children politely waited for all the gifts to be distributed before gleefully ripping open the pre-wrapped gifts.  Hugs and smiles abounded once the children realized their holiday wish lists had been answered via Santa through some very hard working WTC holiday elves.

The response at the other donation sites, while not as physical, was certainly one of gratitude. Thank you to all those who donated this holiday season and to the Student Services Department who helped brighten the lives of those less fortunate.
