At a recent Open House for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program, a family stood out amongst the other attendees. Over a year ago, Elizabeth Frisbie, a current PTA student had seen a flier for a similar event that was held at WTC, in the Fort Bliss Monitor so she attended. Now, Frisbie is at the top of her class and almost half way through the PTA Program. She says when she attended the open house as a perspective student she found value in interacting with the current students at that time, as it provided her a vision of what the students were doing and what she would learn. So much that she applied and was accepted to the PTA program at WTC.
Fifteen years ago, in 1995, Frisbie’s father, Marvin Marchael, became a student of and graduated from the Electronics Program at the old Alabama Street campus after he retired from a long career in the military. He has nothing but complimentary things to say about WTC. He added that he originally started at Community College, but says he felt out of place amongst the hoards of teenagers so he decided to try WTC, and he was glad he did. Marchael says, “WTC is more disciplined and organized than community college.”
Mr. and Mrs. Marchael are happy their daughter’s choice to go to college at WTC. They both say, “They are proud of their daughter who is doing very well.” Who knows? There may be another generation of the family to attend WTC in the future, as Elizabeth’s son was also in attendance at the PTA Open House!
