Western Technical College Serving Those Who Have Served!

Western Technical College Veterans Lunch In

It’s been a proud month planning something for our Veterans. Finally, this week WTC introduced the first Veterans Day Luncheon.

It was a day of remembrance, a day when we recall all those who have served their country. Veterans Day is the day when we say “Thank you” to those who have done their duty. Whatever our religious beliefs or practices, we pay public and private tribute to those who have served in the forces.

Veterans Day is a time when we recognize the fact that the past makes us what we are today. In a world where danger is always present it is a reminder that there are those willing to act in defense of their country and in the pursuit of freedom, therefore they deserve to be remembered in the stillness of our hearts.

Western Technical College (WTC) celebrated Veterans Day by serving lunch to all our Veteran students as well as staff members and presenting them with a little token of appreciation for their service. They were also informed of WTC latest visit to Washington, DC to ask Congressman Reyes to be our Advocate against making changes to VA earned educational benefits that would restrict student-veterans’ ability to choose the postsecondary educational option that best suits their needs.

Sandira Dobashi and Issac Ceballos also travel to Washington, DC to express their concern to congress of how important education if for their future and how their GI-bill benefit has made it possible for them to achieve their education goals.

WTC wants to thank Ft. Bliss for their support in attending our luncheon as well as members from Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), U.S. Army, Vocational Rehabilitation and Department of Veterans Affairs.
At WTC our priority is serving our Veterans and help them transition from military to the civilian employment world.
