Hand Soldering Certification Now Offered

   Western Technical College (WTC) announced that a new training component for a hand-soldering certification  is being offered in El Paso to students of the Electronic Engineering Technology Program and businesses or government entities. 

PTA Participates in Health Matters Summer Camp for EPISD High School Students

   The theme for this year’s Health Matters Summer Camp held at El Paso Independent School District’s (EPISD) Center for Career and Technology Education and sponsored by the Borderland Area Health Education (AHEC) was childhood diabetes and obesity.  Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program students from Western Technical College (WTC) participated in the summer camp to share insights on  diabetes and obesity, study opportunities at WTC, and the physical therapy field in general with 50 high school students from West Texas, including Brewster, Culberson, El Pa

New Equipment Adds Dimension to Hydraulic Phase of Diesel Training

   Maria Aranda, Student Services Representative at Western Technical College (WTC), recently coordinated celebrations for student academic achievements and encouragement of personal milestones.  One major milestone includes students who have chosen to attend college at WTC from out of town and their working towards their educational goals.  Aranda feels strongly that it is important to facilitate an environment where out of town students feel welcomed and encouraged in their education away from home.

College Partners with SISD to Prepare Students for Automotive Technician Certifications

   Western Technical College’s (WTC) Automotive Technology Program has recently partnered with high schools from Socorro Independent School District’s (SISD) Career and Technical Education Program. The goal of the partnership is to help high school student’s advance by preparing them for important industry certifications such as those from the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and competencies required by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Participating high schools are Americas, Socorro, and El Dorado.

Employers Are Looking to Hire Our Grads

    At a recent evening job fair at the Branch Campus intended for students to help find and navigate career options, students gathered to speak with potential employers and hand over their resumes. Alfredo Piedra of Impresario says, “I have been working with Western Technical College to identify students we might hire in the future. We do plan on hiring especially from the Health Information Technology Program. We are looking to fill positions in billing and coding either for our company or for our client’s.

   Don’t forget to mark your calendars to attend the Saturday, July 3rd El Paso Diablo’s baseball game.  In the continued celebration of the Forty Year Anniversary, Western Technical College (WTC) is the proud sponsor of the huge fireworks show in honor of our military men and women and their continued service. Bring your children, family, and friends, and help WTC and the Diablo’s kick off this year’s Independence Day celebration in style. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. See you there!
