     At Western Technical College (WTC), students enrolled in the Information Systems and Security (ISS) program learn and prepare for the following certifications as part of their curriculum: the MCTS - Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist 70-680 Windows 7, Configuring, the MCITP - Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional - 70-685 Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician, and the MCIPT - Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional - 70-686 Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator.  Last month, eighteen (18) students

     This year, Western Technical College is a proud partner and sponsor of Fort Bliss’ FMWR (Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation), helping give back to soldiers and their families for all that they do. At the recent Volunteer Appreciation Day for Spouse’s, Tephanie Hopper, Fort Bliss Army Volunteer Corp Manager was on hand to comment about the college’s Massage Therapy Program involvement. Hopper said, “Western Tech has been very accommodating, and this event wouldn’t have been the same without them.

    Davita Dialysis has had a close relationship with Western Technical College (WTC) by not only employing numerous graduates, but by participating in the Medical/Clinical Assistant Program Advisory Committee. In addition, Davita, who is celebrating ten years in operation, is a valued externship site for WTC students.

     Western Technical College (WTC) is very proud of their growing relationship with the City of El Paso. A prime example of this relationship is the recent partnership the college and the City have formed in terms of employee training.

    This spring brought with it a visit from Antron Brown, driver of the 8,000 horsepower Don Schumacher Racing-owned Matco Tools/U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster and his racing crew at Western Technical College’s (WTC) Main Campus. Brown, an always engaging and entertaining speaker, shares his life experiences and imparts some important life lessons in his message to the students. He remarks, “In life, it’s not if, but when, we go through struggles.

    Traditionally, the welding field has been populated predominately by men; but like many career fields, things are changing and women are picking up welding tools and skills, taking the industry by storm. Recently, Ms. Robin Larson, former Western Technical College (WTC) welding student and 2007 graduate, took the time to sit down and talk about being a woman in the welding industry.

    The next Western Technical College (WTC) graduation ceremony’s guest speaker, Norvel Green, has more in common with the college than meets the eye. In addition to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Technical Operations Collegiate Training Initiative FAA TO-CTI program, Green represents, and being a new partner with WTC, he has celebrated WTC graduations on an even more personal level.

    Western Technical College (WTC) couldn’t have chosen a more winning racer to sponsor. Not only is Brandon Schure a winner on the race track with his decked-out built from scratch sprint car that can reach speeds of 190 miles per hour, but off the track he is one of the kindest and most generous gentlemen as is evident in the support he draws from his pit crew of family and friends. His brother, and Pit/ Crew Chief, Michael Schure describes the Western Tech sponsored car from top to bottom: “it’s a 305 cubic motor that runs on methanol.

    For the fourth consecutive year, Western Technical College has hosted the Skills USA competition at both of its two campuses, where local high school students contend for not only prizes and place rankings in their area of study but also scholarships from Western Tech.

    Sharon and David Chavez have been together for four years this past March, and though they are both El Pasoans, even coming from rival high schools- Riverside and Bel Air, they met in a style fitting of this technological time, on True.com.  David says he met Sharon after touring in the military in Iraq, and after they connected on-line, they decided to meet in person and got to know each other by “going for a ride.” Maybe it was Sharon’s love of cars that aided in bringing these two together. Currently, both of the Chavez’ attends Western Technical College.
