CCST is the state association for private, post-secondary that prepare people for today’s jobs and great careers. There are approximately 200 colleges and schools in the state offering a wide range of occupational curriculum. These colleges and schools enable more students to reach their career goals, provide employers with a large pool of skilled workers, and ultimately expand the state’s tax base by attracting and expanding business in Texas.
Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU) is a voluntary membership organization of accredited, private postsecondary schools, institutes, colleges and universities that provide career-specific educational programs. CECU represents about 500 educational institutions that educate and support millions of students in more than 200 fields, CECU promotes, defends, and protects postsecondary career education.
Western Tech is a Cisco Networking Academy Partner. The Cisco Networking Academy is an IT and career skills development program developed to help provide an educated workforce for the IT industry. Since 1997, more than 22,000 educators and educational institutions in more than 180 countries have joined the Cisco Networking Academy and become a force for change in the global economy. Together, we’re building the IT workforce of tomorrow.
Western Tech is a CompTIA Authorized Partner. CompTIA is the world’s largest developer of vendor-neutral IT certification exams. CompTIA certifications validate technical knowledge and skills in the areas of maintenance and support of PCs, mobile devices, desktops, laptops, operating systems, computer networking, information security and server technology. Certifications validate skills and confirm knowledge gains against a universally accepted set of industry standards. In a recent study, 92% of employers report that IT certifications provide verification of a baseline set of knowledge and skills, help to ensure a job applicants credibility, and result in higher starting salaries.
The Danfoss Group is a global producer of products and services used in areas such as cooling food, air conditioning, heating buildings, etc. With the average age of HVAC-R technicians in the U.S. being about 55 years old, a lot of effort is being made to support students at trade schools. Danfoss provides support by helping schools build refrigeration trainers. The components for the trainers that Danfoss supplies are donated free of charge.
Western Tech is the Official Technical College of Don Schumacher Racing. DSR is always looking to add skilled and ambitious people to their organization. Since 2013, more than 30 Western Tech students have completed internships with DSR, and many have been hired and joined the teams as part of their full-time pit crew. Some of those teams are as follows: U.S Army, MATCO Tools, MOPAR/PENNZOIL, NAPA Auto Parts, Infinite Hero Foundation, Make A Wish, MOPAR Express Lane.
Get Ahead is a partnership program between Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) and diesel training schools like Western Technical College. DTNA requires shops to have all of their service technicians certified in advanced Daimler technology. The Get Ahead program helps puts Western Tech’s students ahead of the pack by providing them Daimler professional technician level training and certification. allowing them greater employment opportunities upon completion of the program at hundreds of Freightliner, Western Star and Detroit Diesel repair locations across the nation.
Halliburton is one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the energy industry. They received the 2014 Career Colleges and Schools of Texas (CCST) Employer of the Year award, nominated by Western Technical College. Halliburton has hired dozens and dozens of Western Tech grads.
A family-owned company with a rich racing heritage and a passion for muscle cars and street rods, JEGS offers the auto parts and accessories you want for your car, truck or Jeep. Western Tech students and employees can purchase thousands of performance parts at a significant discounted price.
Lincoln Electric is a global manufacturer of welding products and equipment. Western Tech has teamed up with Lincoln Electric as a partner in their Educational Resources & Purchasing Portal designed exclusively for educators. Lincoln Electric has graciously donated many Student Training Aides to contribute to the ongoing education for our students. This program allows access to all welding, educational/training and safety materials, as well as premium welding equipment and gear.
Matco Tools began operations in 1946 as a manufacturer of quality automotive repair tools, diagnostic equipment, and toolboxes and now has over 13,000 items for Automotive, Diesel, HVAC and Collision repair professional.
Western Tech has partnered with MATCO Tools to provide professional level tools to our students during their training and to for graduates to take with them as they enter the work force. A professional quality tool set is included in the cost of the Auto, Diesel and HVAC programs Additionally Western Tech students enjoy as much as a 53% discount on MATCO tools when enrolled in any of our programs.
Mesilla Valley Transportation is one of the largest locally owned transportation providers in Western Texas and New Mexico. As a valued partner in education Mesilla Valley Transportation routinely provides over the road trucks in need of repair to the Western Tech Diesel department. As the students preform the repairs not only do they sharpen their technical skills they receive real world diesel industry experience.
Western Tech is part of the Microsoft Imagine Academy, which provides educational institutions with full curriculum solutions for teaching technology courses, access to learning tools that help teachers gain technology skills, and helps students to achieve success through product training and industry certifications. Currently, the Microsoft Imagine Academy provides access to 177 distinct pieces of software. These software packages will help students to become familiar with a range of Microsoft products and are available to all enrolled students at no additional costs.
Western Tech is proud to offer the Mopar CAP Local program. The Mopar online modules and the Western Tech curriculum is designed to provide future technicians with cutting-edge classroom instruction and hands-on Mopar vehicle experience. This program provides auto enthusiasts like you with advanced technical training from OEM-certified instructors. Turn your auto passion into a paycheck and train to work on some of the hottest Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram and FIAT® Brand vehicles around.
Western Technical College is proud to be voted a military-friendly school. We invite all active military, veterans and their families to enjoy a 10 percent tuition discount. Through partnership with Western Tech, Stripes has been able to recruit and hire many professionals from the HVAC/Refrigeration program. There’s even a designated space at WT that emulates a Stripes store with training equipment they provided.
TECMA operates multiple manufacturing facilities in Mexico and several distribution centers in El Paso. They provide work for over 3,000 employees in Mexico and 125 in El Paso, many of whom are Western Tech grads.
Since 1940, Talecris Plasma Resources, a Grifols Company, has been improving people’s health through the development of life-saving plasma medicines and diagnostics systems. Grifols employs nearly 14,000 employees globally, including 250+ people from El Paso, several of whom are Western Tech grads.
Tuition Options is a complete institutional loan service provider whose primary focus is to deliver proven results to post-secondary school clients. The company’s origination and servicing platform is fully compliant with all institutional loan federal regulations. Western Tech partners with Tuition Options to ensure that education is an option for everyone.
Vitalant is one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit community blood service providers. They are responsible for assuring that the 18 hospitals in our area have an adequate and safe blood supply. They employ over 150 people in the El Paso/Southern New Mexico area. Many employees are graduates of Western Tech.
