Western Tech Reschedules Commencement Ceremony…and Adds a Twist!

September 1, 2020

We would like to celebrate graduation in a creative and meaningful fashion. Due to Covid-19, UTEP informed us that they will not be hosting graduations at the Don Haskins Center this year. However, we didn’t want that to stop the celebration! Instead, we took a different approach.  This year for graduation, we are inviting the WTC class of 2020 to come out and celebrate their accomplishments with us on November 6, 2020 at the County Coliseum.

This will not be the usual graduation as it will not take place inside but rather outside!  Every graduate can enter with one vehicle only. In that one vehicle, family and friends can join in on their graduate’s celebration. In addition, vehicles will be safely spaced apart. We will feature the graduation virtually on huge screens and those attending will be able to hear it through FM radio.  We will have a student speaker from each campus and feature the photos and names of our graduates. BUT WAIT, that’s not all. After the virtual graduation, we will have MOVIE NIGHT. Yes, that’s right. MOVIE NIGHT, at no cost. Attendees can bring lawn chairs and sit outside their vehicle with their families. There will also be food trucks available for anyone interested in purchasing delicious food or sweets.

If you are a 2020 graduate and would like to attend, visit the following link: https://conta.cc/3gP5bya

Again, congratulations and we look forward to seeing you on November 6th!

Sincerely,

Western Technical College
