Vocational Training – Free for Military, Veterans and Spouses

July 28, 2021

El Paso, Texas — As part of the Career Skills Program (CSP) at Fort Bliss, the Texas Apartment Association Education Foundation (TAAEF), El Paso Apartment Association (EPAA), and Western Tech are teaming up to offer exciting career opportunities. The apartment industry is booming with entry-level maintenance jobs that have amazing benefits – discounted rent, generous insurance packages, and so much more!

The program is open to transitioning active-duty members, veterans, and military spouses. Transitioning active-duty members have priority and any remaining slots will be allocated to veterans and military spouses. The Texas Apartment Association Education Foundation is funding the training. There is no cost to the student. “Our mission is to ensure the Texas multifamily  housing industry has enough skilled professionals in the pipeline. Military veterans have a work ethic and many other transferable skills that make them ideal candidates for the job,” said Becca Ramati, TAAEF Vice-President. Students will earn the Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAM-T) credential accredited by the National Apartment Association. The CAM-T credential is considered the gold standard for maintenance professionals in the multi-family rental industry and is recognized nationally.

“As a veteran myself, my goal is to help soldiers transition smoothly to the private sector. The multi-family housing industry has a shortage of skilled maintenance professionals and I see this as an opportunity to help servicemembers and fill a void in the job market,” said Scott Lynch, EPAA Executive Director.

Active-duty members should contact the Fort Bliss Career Skill Program installation administrator at belen.g.salasar.ctr@mail.mil for eligibility requirements. Veterans and military spouses can contact the El Paso Apartment Association at office@epaa.org
