November 9, 2018

El Paso, Texas – September 9,2018– Western Technical College a 2017 Innovation in Education award winner ranked #1 top performing location out of 171 schools across the country.

Students enrolled in the Diesel Mechanics Program are required to complete Daimler training modules online.  The #1 ranking is determined by the number of courses successfully completed by students. “Our students are gaining valuable technical training through these modules and are excited to learn more”, Program Director Jack Werner shared. “Being ranked #1 performing location over 171 schools in such a short period of time, is a great accomplishment and is really a reflection of the dedication and interest the instructors have towards the education their students are receiving”, Werner commented.

In 2016, Western Tech developed a strategic partnership with Daimler Trucks North America and incorporated Daimler’s “Get Ahead Program” into the curriculum. Since then, the Diesel Mechanics Program has been providing students web-based factory training needed to work on Western Star, Freightliner, and Detroit Engines.

Across the industry, technicians are reaching retirement age. The demand for qualified technicians is increasing every day. This partnership offers advanced career job opportunities for graduates who will be ready to want to work and fill those highly specialized jobs.
