Western Technical College (WTC) has added a new Associate Degree in Aerospace and Defense Technology. The addition of this new program serves as a reminder of the steady growth and innovation in education that Western Tech has continued to demonstrate over the last 50 years.
Graduates from the Aerospace and Defense Technology program at WTC will have the fundamental skills needed for a career in the Aerospace and Defense industry. Graduates will have the opportunity to transfer their credits to earn a Bachelor degree where they will continue to take subjects in: Additive, Manufacturing, Aviation Maintenance, Robotics, and Intelligent Systems.
WTC will be able to promote interest in recruitment, teaching, and advancement of students and the technology workforce at all levels. The Aerospace and Defense Technology program will also serve as a pathway for Veterans and transitioning soldiers for aerospace and defense as well as spark the interest and hiring potential of advanced manufacturing industries for the El Paso area.
“We strongly feel that a program like this will contribute to the integrated middle-skill and high-skill workforce pipeline initiative for the development of advanced technology in the El Paso region,” stated Brad Kuykendall-CEO.
“Congratulations to Western Technical College for expanding educational opportunities for El Pasoans and embracing our region’s opportunities to create a more prosperous economy,” said Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16). “The Associate Degree in Aeronautical Technology will support local efforts to lead in the aerospace and defense industry, build a new talent pipeline, and create an exciting future of possibilities for students.”
