Western Tech Extends “Stay Home, Work Safe” Order | We Will Overcome This Together

April 7, 2020

Greetings Students and Staff,

Over the last several weeks, we have all been adapting and conforming to our brave new reality of fighting to stop the spread of COVID-19. Many of you are faced with the challenges of working from home, balancing schoolwork, and homeschooling your children. There’s no doubt that the Coronavirus pandemic is affecting all our families, our businesses, our communities, and our way of life.

As we continue to monitor the situation daily, I wanted to take this time to provide you with updates on how we’re continuing to approach the situation. First and foremost, my heart goes out to anyone who’s been impacted by the virus, either directly or indirectly. My thoughts are especially with those who are sick, to whom I extend a heartfelt wish for a full recovery. In an effort to maintain transparency, I’m here to announce that one of our students self-reported a positive result for COVID 19 last week. The student was seen and treated by a physician; is asymptomatic and remains self-quarantined at home. I pray that the student and their household overcome this challenging and stressful time.

In previous communication, I had hoped that we would be passed the pandemic and back to some type of normalcy. Like most organizations, we are doing our best to monitor the situation and support the order from our Governor and our city representatives. As always, Western Tech will continue to prioritize the safety of our students, employees, and their families.

Effective today, students will adhere to their online/distance learning through Friday, May 1, 2020 and will return to their normal class schedules at their respective campus on Monday, May 4, 2020. Programs that have made adaptations will continue in that manner unless otherwise instructed by their Program Director or Campus President.

STAFF & CAMPUS HOURS

Due to the “Stay Home, Work Safe” order, both campuses remain closed until further notice. We’re committed to providing you with service. Staff is continuing to work from home and are still available to support your needs between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.

WE WILL OVERCOME THIS TOGETHER

Please take note of something important. That banner in our lobby denoting Western Tech’s 50th Anniversary didn’t get there because the last 50 years were problem free. On the contrary, there were many serious problems, some that threatened the very existence of Western Tech. But, with the help of God and all our positive attitudes, creative thinking, and a never ceasing application of plain old guts and courage, we have overcome every one of those past threats. We have an amazing student body and staff at Western Tech. We’ve been challenged to be the best version of ourselves by demonstrating patience, understanding, and compassion. Now more than ever, I’m filled with a sense of pride to know that many of our graduates are in the front lines; tirelessly caring for people in need in hospitals and clinics. It brings me comfort to know that our graduates are traveling across the country, delivering food and supplies so that we can bare this pandemic. It brings me hope that we will continue to train and educate future leaders and essential workers. I encourage you to be proud of what you are working towards and what you will become! The world needs you! #WTCPROUD.

I stand with you!
